This is newly created role in a small district council communications team which is developing its digital first approach. We are looking for an experienced digital communicator who will develop and lead on our social media strategy.
As our digital communications and social media officer, you will work closely with the communications team and senior managers to develop a social media strategy and protocol, using key analytics and building on existing good practice both within the council and externally.
Key to your role will be to build on and enhance our digital presence, develop content, manage online campaigns, and evaluate engagement to meet the evolving needs and digital habits of our population and stakeholders.
You will use your insight, skills, and knowledge to support the team to achieve their corporate communications objectives and have an innovative approach to engaging new and existing audiences, as well as understanding emerging trends and best practices to help drive innovation across the council.
You will also support council-wide service areas to deliver their communications objectives providing advice and expertise and using the corporate social media management tools and approaches. You will work closely with the Digital Communications Officers and support them in developing our digital offer, as well as exploring other emerging technologies to enable us to provide an approachable and accessible service for our customers and residents.

A broad knowledge and understanding of a wide range of social media channels, social media monitoring platforms and analysis tools.
A Proven experience in writing and delivering social media strategies.
You have knowledge of analysing data and providing insights into engagement, AB testing, and benchmarking.
The ability to research and innovate – exploring and testing new digital channels and developing our digital offer.
An excellent understanding of and commitment to providing accessible digital content.
A track record of running organic and paid for campaigns across all social media networks.
You have excellent written and content skills, with proven ability to deliver great online content, including information pages, news, events, and surveys.
You have an understanding and knowledge of range of social media assets including images, graphics, film, and surveys, to support written content and increase engagement.
You work effectively using your own initiative to problem solve and manage your workload effectively.
You enjoy working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
