Job description

£40,478 – £46,549 - per annum
37 hours per week
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the Council’s Statutory responsibilities and permissive powers relating to Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM), ensuring they are managed in a professional
manner
to meet the requirements
of the Council.
The role will involve management of the Council’s Drainage and Coastal team together with providing strategic overview to the Southwest Coastal Monitoring teams. The successful candidate will manage and supervise the maintenance and repair of Council’s flood risk management assets, riparian assets and coastal protection assets. Promoting improvements to FCERM assets and promoting schemes and studies through a variety of funding mechanisms to ensure that our present and future planned communities are protected against flooding and coastal erosion risks.
In an addition, they will provide specialist advice to the variety of internal Councils teams, in particularly Strategic Planning, Development Management, Capital Projects, Green Spaces relating to planning matters, flood risk, drainage provision, emergency planning (access and egress) and coastal issues for example.

• Demonstratable experience within flood risk management, drainage and coastal management including strategic planning, operational management of FRCERM Assets and working in emergency situations.
• Relevant project management and financial planning skills to deliver capital and revenue works to programme.
• Ability and skills to negotiate with contractors, developers, and consultants.
